Rook by Mark Totterdell

All that supports those
fine, frail marbled treasures,
way up in the fork of
the fork of the trunk,
is a jumble of twigs
built by beak, at all angles;
a bit like an avian
twist on Kerplunk.

Mark Totterdell‘s poems have appeared widely in magazines. His collection ‘This Patter of Traces’ was published by Oversteps Books in 2014.
